Table Mountain which is officially one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. Cape Town owes her very existence to her. We will enjoy the crisp air and one of the world’s most famous and magnificent views and from the summit (weather permitting).
The origins of The Dutch East India Company’s Garden in Cape Town are set against the dramatic background of ‘The Voyages of Discovery’ in the late 15th century. We will walk around the gardens and learn about the historical buildings surrounding them.
Green Market Square has been a slave market, a fruit and vegetable market and today is a bustling mix of South Africa’s diverse cultural hotchpot. It is the ultimate flea market. There is a wide range of goods on sale, as well as buskers, mime artists and jugglers. We will enjoy lunch at one of the corner bistros whilst watching Capetonians.
With Cape Town being the oldest city in South Africa, it boasts a number of important historical buildings. The city’s architecture is a testament to the many and varied influences on South Africa’s unique history and a dream for any architecture enthusiasts!
We will then drive into and then wander through the “Bo Kaap”, also known as the Malay quarter. The architecture here is almost unchanged and shows what Cape Town looked like 200 years ago. It’s an opportunity to take some stunning photos and to meet locals.
