Our Tasting Tours
According to history books the first vines were planted in South Africa in 1655 with the first wine consumed on 2 February in 1659. On that day Jan van Riebeeck entered in his diary: “Praise be to God for the first wine was drunk made from Cape grape.”
The region’s Mediterranean climate of winter rains and summer sun, make it perfect for growing grapes and fine wines are produced from a wide variety of cultivars. Today there are over 500 wineries in the Cape and our Winelands tours concentrate on the wine growing areas beneath the Hottentot’s Mountains. Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek consist of endless vineyards, rolling hills and dramatic mountains.
Most of our wine tasting tours can be enjoyed as full or half day options.
- Duration of our Full Day Tours is approx. 7-9 hours. Departure: ±09h30 End: ±17h30
- Duration of our Half Day Tours is approx. 4-6 hours. Departures times may vary.
A full day wine tasting tour might cover anywhere from three to seven wine estates depending on your wish. In the middle of the day we stop for an a la carte winelands lunch or platter consisting of cheeses, olives and cold meats before continuing on our way.
Half day wine tasting tour covers two to four wine estates depending on your wish. We usually sip lunch on a half day tour as wine tasting time is limited otherwise.
We generally spend approximately 45 minutes per estate.
Our tours are done at a relaxed pace with a focus on your enjoyment, learning and relaxation. All tours can be done on a private or shared basis.
